Learn about some of the inner workings of the most popular helicopter worldwide
All of our helicopter pilot training is conducted on the Robinson R44. We’ve written articles and blog posts about the reasons why we believe the R44 to be the perfect training helicopter as well as ideal for future private use.
It’s quite normal when you first begin helicopter flying to be a little bewildered by what it happening and how the R44 actually works. Some helicopter pilots may feel reluctant to ask questions into the mechanics of the R44, particularly if you aren’t naturally mechanically minded, but don’t fear! You don’t need a degree in engineering to understand a lot more about the systems of these helicopters.
If you do take a little time to study more about the R44 systems, it will prove to be a big help in understanding how the helicopter is doing the things you ask it to do when flying.
The actual Robinson R44 Pilot’s Operating Handbook can be downloaded as a PDF from the Robinson Helicopter website here.
We have created this (hopefully) useful PDF to give you an overview of the R44 systems and how they work. The aim of this is not to replace the handbook, rather to add some additional context.
In fact, you don’t even need to be a pilot to understand it. If you’re curious about how the R44 operates, you may well find this free PDF download useful.
