It’s been an exciting last few years, albeit a little tough at times, but we felt it was time for a change…and that change was to up-sticks and leave our home at Walton Wood Airfield for new premises at one of the most exciting airfields in the country – Leeds East Airport.
Formerly an RAF airfield, known as RAF Church Fenton, the airfield was closed in 2013 and a year later purchased by Makins Enterprises with a vision to transform the airfield into Yorkshire’s newest aviation destination.
More than just an airport, Leeds East is the home of many businesses away from the world of aviation, including a modern supercar showroom and on-site restaurant, and this year the airfield will host ‘Made in Leeds’ Music Festival. If aviation is your thing then The Yorkshire Aviation Academy offers training for fixed-wing pilots and now, Yorkshire Helicopters Ltd are proud to be THE resident flight school at Leeds East Airport.
Our move to Leeds East Airport keeps us in the county we love and is still only ten minutes from the A1 and A64, and a train service runs from York to the village of Church Fenton taking just ten minutes making us more accessible to visitors of York that do not have road transport.
Our new location means that we have been able to expand our experiences and gifts page and a wonderful scenic helicopter ride over York is now just £230 for up to three people.
We continue to provide our brand of friendly and relaxed helicopter pilot training and trial helicopter lessons in the heart of Yorkshire using our R44 helicopters.
